Harmony, balance and truth

Maatvia is named for Ma’at, the Egyptian principle of order: truth weighed against a feather, balance kept between what is claimed and what is proven. These are not decoration. They are the rules every screen, sentence and number in the product follows, and this page shows them working rather than describing them.

The three values

Truth, weighed, not guessed

Every score, list result and summary carries its source, its edition and the time it was read. Wording is never stronger than the evidence: when a list is behind, we say so next to the number instead of hiding it in a footer. Errors say what happened and what to do next.

Balance, measured, not alarmist

Risk is stated plainly and weighed against clarity. The scale is our recurring mark because weighing is what the product does. Severity is shown as a word, a letter and a colour, so the weight of an item can be read without relying on colour. Layouts stay even and nothing sits flush against an edge.

Harmony, one calm voice

One type ramp, one palette, one motion language across this website, the console and the member portal. You should never feel you have entered a different product, and no sentence should need translating from jargon.

Serious, but the evidence does not support an emergency.

How we say things

These are the wordings we hold ourselves to. If you find a sentence in the product on the right-hand side of this table, it is a fault and we want to hear about it.

The badges we use, and what each one means

These are the same badges the product renders, read from the same single vocabulary, so a state cannot be called one thing here and another thing inside the console. Each carries a word, a letter and a tone.

  • CClearChecked against the current lists with no match.
  • RNeeds reviewClose to a listed party, but not conclusive.
  • MMatchMatches a party on an official list.
  • DRecheck dueThe lists moved after this check was made.

Where our figures come from

Every published list we screen against, as loaded right now: who publishes it, the edition we hold, how many records it contains and when we last read it. Counts and dates only, no names are shown on this page.

What we will not do

  • We do not use fear to sell. “Critical” means something specific, and we use it sparingly.
  • We label anything written with the help of a model, everywhere it appears.
  • We do not print a figure we cannot date. If a read fails, the sentence stands without a number.
  • We never signal a state by colour alone, every badge carries a letter and a word as well.
  • We do not overstate what a score is. A name comparison is a comparison, not a confirmed identity.
  • Motion stays gentle and always follows your reduced-motion setting; contrast and accent choices follow you from the site into the console.

Figures on this page were read on October 18, 2026. Hold us to this: write to hello@maatvia.com if a screen, a number or a sentence falls short of it.
